Been a while since I dropped an update. Besides working on the next novel, I've also been working diligently on the Arduin Bloody Arduin game system for Emperors Choice. Its a pleasure, I must say, and in the six months since I've last updated a lot has happened with the game. It started with the idea of something nearly completely OSR then I realized that its tough to be OSR when you're older than they are! So the initial name and thought of Arduin OSR quickly and quietly died, especially as I heard from folks in the movement that thought it only done to hook them in. My intentions were a bit more pure than that: it seemed the appropriate home when we first started discussing bringing back an older feel to the system. Feedback is always awesome, however and we fell back to the thought of bringing the ideal system Arduin was meant to be back to life. That meant a name change, among many things and Arduin Bloody Arduin rose from the ashes like a phoenix from where David Hargrave's untimely passing had left it.
We also wanted to approach this release differently than before, to have greater fan interaction and let them vote, of sorts, whether we should even do it. So, in the tradition of many others we are looking at kickstarting it once we have a few things in order. Arduin has never had a full color book from cover to cover, including internal illustrations and this seemed a way to do it if people were interested in supporting it. For me, that means learning on how to make a kickstarter campaign work. Lots of people do it, it seems, some really well and others terribly and fraudulently.
Here's to doing it well.
